You are guilty of using your computer for the wrong things.
Dangerous Dave is one of the games that stuck to my memory from childhood, not because it was one of the most interesting games I played then, but because of the life-changing moment associated with it.
Let me share some information about Dangerous Dave…
Dangerous Dave is a classic computer video game, which was released in the year 1988. The single-player game was published by Softdisk and developed by John Romero.
The objective of the game is to gather the cups, which are made of gold.
When the player musters the required number of cups needed to move to the successive stage, he enters the next stage.
The game consists of several secret stages, huge creatures, and hurdles, which come in the path of the player as he progresses in the game. The player needs to clear ten thrilling levels and at each level, the player needs to gather the required number of gold coins.
The player needs a gun to shoot the enemies. The enemies appear hilarious due to their appearance, which looks like the red colored sun and plates of green color. The enemies are sometimes, equipped with traps or diamonds.
In the platform game, Dangerous Dave, the player is required to get his trophies back from the hidden hub of the pirate. The pirate is the enemy of Dave who is known by the name Clyde Cooper.
The difficulty level of the game increases with successive levels. In the game, the player needs to run and hop through the successive levels. The DOS game consists of some complexities, which the player encounters on his way.
Though, the game continues smoothly but, the game can get challenging sometimes.
During the game, the player can muster several objects, which consist of distinct scores.
The initial two stages are simple and less challenging but, the furthermore levels are tough and riskier.
The game belongs to the genre arcade.
The sound and graphics are done well.
The game has the ability to keep the players engrossed in it for long hours.
Just like every other game, Dangerous Dave is really dangerous…
How was I saved from the spirit of Dangerous Dave to become one of the most sought after Online Business Developer in Nigeria?
One early morning at Crystal Computer Research Institute* I was playing my favorite game “Dangerous Dave” when the in-law of Mr. Soyemi Olugbenga, CEO of Crystal Computer Research Institute at the time walked into the office.
He saw me engrossed in the game and said; “the worst thing you can do with a computer is to play games with it.”
I felt indifferent at that moment but every single day I try to play a game, I get his voice ringing in my head.
Until I agreed that I was actually doing the worst thing.
So I took some time off playing games, I started learning how to use the keyboard. The developers of Marvis Beacon built a game into their typing tutor software and before I knew what was happening, I had mastered typing on a keyboard.
I then advanced to learning Microsoft Office Word, I was able to create and edit office documents.
My zeal for learning new software packages grew very strong by the hour.
So I found myself at the point where I needed to choose between Frontpage and Dreamweaver which are both WYSIWYG ( What You See Is What You Get ) Application packages.
I continued to gather new skills until I got to the level where I wanted to know the root of all the games and software packages.
This was the turning point moment for me.
I learned Visual Basic, after that, I picked interest in Java programming where I was able to see how Automated Teller Machines work behind the hood. I was able to understand how hardware and software systems are modeled like real-life objects that can have attributes and perform actions.
Object-oriented programming as it is called was a game-changer for PHP developers when it was introduced in the fifth version of the scripting language.
PHP frameworks propped up and I was able to single-handedly build The ₦1,500,000 million Naira Project.
If you have been using your computer for the wrong things all these while, there is a turning point for you now.
